Asbestos deaths reach all-time high

Written By: admin on May 11, 2010 137 Comments

According to the Health and Safety Executive, asbestos-related deaths in the North East and Cumbria have reached the highest level since records began. Annually, 400 people die from asbestos industrial disease in this region.

As a traditionally industrial region, with a history of involvement in shipbuilding and other professions linked to asbestos exposure, the North East is tragically plagued with one of the highest mesothelioma death rates in the United Kingdom.

Asbestos is single biggest cause of work-related deaths in the country, taking 2000 lives annually and devastating families. Humphreys & Co. Solicitors have been working with the victims of exposure to airborne asbestos fibres for decades and know all too well the trauma that being diagnosed with asbestosis, mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer or pleural thickening entails.
